The following types of submissions are accepted:

1. Scientific work by a group of authors:
   Contributions from basic and clinical research, as well as health services research and other fields of respiratory medicine.
2. Case reports / cases (new):
   Particularly instructive, unusual or practice-relevant cases from hospital-based and outpatient care.
3. Industry-sponsored study:
   Abstracts on industry-sponsored research are presented outside the scientific programme. Encore abstracts are permitted if declared as such and if previous presentations or publications are specified.

Your abstract must be assigned to a category based on the DGP’s scientific sections. Find out more about our 18 scientific sections to decide which one best reflects the topic of your abstract.

When submitting your abstract, you may also indicate your preferred presentation format:

• poster
• oral presentation

The final decision on abstract acceptance and presentation format rests with the DGP. Allocation as a poster, ePoster or oral presentation is determined by the Section Chairs and the Programme Committee.

In addition to scientific abstracts, instructive cases from hospital-based and outpatient care may also be submitted as abstracts. We are particularly seeking cases of high educational value, with an unusual clinical course, diagnostic relevance or particular significance to respiratory practice.

Selected cases will be presented orally on site as part of the “Best Case Reports” lecture series.

For scientific abstracts, a clear structure is recommended, for example:

• Background / research question
• Methods
• Results
• Conclusion

For case reports, a case-based structure is recommended, for example:

• Initial presentation / medical history
• Diagnostics and findings
• Treatment and clinical course
• Learning points for clinical practice

IMPORTANT: Please note that cases must be submitted fully anonymized (with the exception of age and sex).
(Upon acceptance of the abstract, written informed consent from the patient must be provided for the presentation if non-anonymized data or images are used.)

An abstract must not exceed 2,000 characters, excluding spaces.

Please note:

• The title and author details are entered separately and should not be repeated in the abstract text.
• If the title or author details are nevertheless included in the abstract text, they will count towards the maximum character limit.
• Figures and tables are permitted and will count towards the character limit.
• Abstracts may be submitted in German or English; submission in German is preferred.
• Abstracts must not be written entirely in capital letters. This also applies to headings.
• Please pay careful attention to spelling and grammar. Abstracts will not be copy-edited before publication in the abstract volume.

All accepted abstracts will be published in a supplement to the Thieme journal Pneumologie. The supplement will be published both online and in print.

The best abstracts will be selected by an independent jury and presented on stage in the DGP Lounge as part of a symposium. The presenters will compete in front of the specialist audience for the prestigious DGP Abstract Awards, with prize money of up to EUR 1,500 for first place.

Abstracts of a purely promotional nature or company presentations are not permitted. This does not apply to scientific research or studies.

Industry-sponsored studies must be submitted in the designated category and the thematically appropriate section.

Accepted abstracts submitted by industry companies may only be presented by the scientific authors listed at the time of submission. Presentation by company employees is not permitted. These contributions will be presented exclusively in digital format.

Conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the time of submission.

If the abstract is accepted, conflicts of interest must additionally be stated when uploading the oral presentation or on the poster.

By submitting an abstract, the authors assume responsibility for the accuracy of the submitted data.

The authors are also responsible for ensuring that any third-party copyright issues relating to the content, figures, tables or other material have been resolved.

You will receive confirmation once your submission has been received correctly. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent in December 2026. Please note that all notifications will be sent exclusively to the submitter's email address registered on the submission platform.
